my first submission to L. Ron Hubbard's
Writers of the Future Contest in Sep 1997

A scant year after I founded the Blackwood Writers Group, without which The Big Picture might never have seen light of day, I came away with an award. Note: in 1997 the story title is not on the award.

The certificate says "Honourable Mention" but both the accompanying letters,

1. A critique from Dave Wolverton, and
2. A congrats from contest co-ordinator Edith Shields say "Congratulations on being a Semi-Finalist..."

A framed copy hangs on my study wall along with a real Semi-Finalist certificate from my Dec 2018 A Triplicity of Choices and again an accompanying email critique from Dave Wolverton/aka David Farland. I guess in twenty plus years, some things had to change.
